Tasmanian Companion Cards

The Tasmanian Government Companion Card

The Tasmanian Companion Card entitles eligible people with lifelong disability to a free ticket for their companion carer at participating venues and events.

What is the Companion Card?

The Companion Card is a photo ID card which identifies a person with disability who requires lifelong support from a companion carer to participate at most community events.

Companion Card holders present their card at participating venues and events when purchasing a ticket or paying an entry fee and receive a ticket for their companion carer at no extra charge.

The Tasmanian Companion Card Program is part of the National Companion Card Scheme. There is not a specific national card. Each State or Territory issue their own cards and applicants need to apply for the card in the State or Territory in which they permanently reside.

If a cardholder relocates to another state or territory then they will need to apply to transfer their membership to the new State or Territory.

Thanks to reciprocal arrangements with every other State and territory, Tasmanian cardholders can use their card when on holidays or travelling interstate.

To find out where you can use your card interstate, or to get more information on the program in another State go to the map of Australia on this page.
